Visiting: Baguio, Sagada, Tinglayan, Tabuk & Tuguegarao
Difficulty Level: Challenging • Distance: 20-40 kms per day • Tour Duration: 9 Days / 8 Nights
This tour is available to run at any time with a minimum of 2 riders.
Day 1 - Arrival in Manila. Meet and greet. Transfer to hotel.
Day 2 - Today we travel north of Manila to Baguio, "City of Pines". Being a city in the mountains, you will find the weather to be cooler compared to other major cities in the country.
Day 3 - Today we cycle Baguio's Yellow Trail, which takes around two hours. Much of this trail is a single track through the pine trees which characterise this region. Other trails nearby present alternative options. The undulating trails in Benguet are a mixture of dirt roads, single trails, and pathways.
Day 4 - This morning we leave Baguio City and head for Sagada, a journey of around 4 hours. We will be mountain-biking a trail into Sagada - a distance of approximately 10 to 12 kilometres. Along the way we'll enter a cave which is a traditional Sagada burial site. In the past Sagada's populace would bury their dead relatives in wooden coffins in such caves. We'll also see the world famous Hanging Coffins of Sagada.
After having lunch in the town, we'll ride our bikes to Kiltepan Rice Terraces - a journey of 8 kilometres, before returning to Sagada.
Day 5 - Today, we'll enjoy cycling along more of Sagada's trails, including the Marlboro Trail, and Pilao ridge. The total cycling distance is around 30 kilometres.
Day 6 - Leaving Sagada early, we head for Tinglayan, in Kalinga Province. We'll be cycling most of the way on paved roads, and this is one of the most scenic ride we'll undertake during the tour, as we enjoy a panorama of rice terraces, mountains and streams. The distance from Sagada to Tinglayan is 60 kilometres.
Day 7 - We start today with a 40 minute trek to the small village of Buscalan. This is home to Fang Od, one of the oldest traditional tattoo artists in the country. This part of the tour is not suitable for bikes, so we have several porters that carry the bikes to Butbut, a neighbouring village.
From Butbut, we can cycle to Tinglayan. This highly scenic region is only accessible by mountain bikes, motorbikes, and all-terrain vehicles. Buscalan and Butbut are at a higher altitude than Tinglayan so it is cooler and the air thinner. In the afternoon, we check out of our hotel and head for Tabuk City, staying overnight here to be closer to the airport at Tuguegarao.
Day 8 - This morning we leave early to catch a flight back to Manila, and you'll be transferred to a Manila hotel. The rest of the day is yours to spend at leisure. Overnight in Manila
Day 9 - Transfer to airport for your flight home, or you may extend your stay in Manila by request.
